Competition Highlights
American Tour de Sol
Each of
the past six years, Hurricane Motor Works has competed in the American Tour
de Sol. Organized by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association, this
event is the world's premier competition and showcase of electric and
hybrid-electric vehicles. All of the Big Three auto makers compete in
this event as well as some of the nation's most prominent colleges and
universities.
In 2003, Hurricane Motor Works' Proxima competed in the American Tour de
Sol for the first time. Previously, the Paradyne competed every year
from 1998 to 2002.

HEV Challenge
Hurricane Motor Works competed in the HEV Challenges,
sponsored by the US Department of Energy and the Big 3 auto makers, in 1993,
1994 and 1995. The students enjoyed the experience and learned a lot while
laying the foundation for our most recent successes. Tulsa's Hybrid Hurricane
sport pick-up competed in these HEV challenges.
