HEVs at the University of Tulsa
Hybrid Hurricane Tulsa Paradyne Proxima Insight Trio
Hurricane Motor Works was founded in 1991 as an undergraduate "design and build" research project. To this day, the project is undergraduate led and organized. We receive advice and guidance from two principal advisors:
Dr. John Henshaw, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering
Dr. Robert Strattan, Professor of Electrical Engineering
As mentioned previously, Hurricane Motor Works' primary goal is education. Undergraduate students receive the opportunity to investigate real world design and manufacturing experiences. This project promotes team building, collaborative engineering, creativity and communication--these concepts are fundamental to the success of any engineer in today's workplace.
Hurricane Motor Works Goals
Provide an exciting hands-on educational undergraduate research experience
Promote team building, collaborative engineering, creativity and communication
Educate students, the University community and the public about the benefits of hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) technology
Develop HEV prototypes to demonstrate the feasibility of fuel-friendly technology
